Iran names Mojtaba Khamenei as Supreme Leader

Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of Ali Khamenei, has been appointed as the new Supreme Leader of Iran.

According to the news agency Iran International, the decision was made by the Assembly of Experts, the clerical body responsible for selecting the country’s Supreme Leader.

“The Assembly of Experts, acting under pressure from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, selected Mojtaba Khamenei as the leader of the Islamic Republic,” the agency reported.
