Iran players receive US visas for World Cup participation

Members of Iran’s national football team have been granted US visas to participate in the FIFA World Cup, Iran’s Ambassador to Ankara Mohammad Hassan Habibollahzadeh, has said.

The diplomat stated that the visas were issued within 48 hours, IRIB reports.

“Visas for the players of the Iranian national team were issued within 48 hours, without the need for their personal presence and fingerprinting at the Mexican embassy,” he said.

Iran is scheduled to play its group-stage matches in Inglewood, California, against New Zealand and Belgium, before facing Egypt in Seattle.
