Iran rejects GCC claims on three Persian Gulf islands, Arash gas field
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran issued a statement in response to claims by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) regarding three islands in the Persian Gulf and the Arash gas field.
The ministry categorically rejected repeated and legally unfounded GCC statements concerning Abu Musa, Greater Tunb, and Lesser Tunb, referring to the statement issued at the 165th session of foreign ministers, Caliber.Az reports per Iranian media.
Iran’s foreign ministry emphasised the country’s “undisputed sovereignty over these three islands,” asserting that GCC claims cannot alter historical, geographical, or legal realities.
The statement added that Iran will continue to take all necessary measures to ensure the security and protection of national interests on the islands.
Regarding the Arash gas field, Iran dismissed unilateral claims as invalid, noting that repeated statements do not grant Kuwait any legal rights. The ministry stressed that achieving a fair and long-term agreement requires bilateral dialogue, joint efforts, and a constructive atmosphere.
