Iranian clerics criticise talks with US as “political game”
Ahmad Alamolhoda, Friday prayer leader in Mashhad, called negotiations with the United States a “political game,” saying talks conducted under military pressure are neither serious nor realistic.
Alamolhoda stated that negotiations with weapons and aircraft overhead do not inspire trust, adding that Iran is not afraid of war, while its opponents fear Tehran’s military power, Caliber.Az reports via Iranian media.
Another cleric, Ahmad Khatami, speaking during Friday prayers in Tehran, said Iran will continue uranium enrichment.
“Iran does not want nuclear energy for an atomic bomb,” Khatami emphasised, describing international calls for a voluntary halt to enrichment as “an irrelevant statement.”
He added that, for religious reasons, Iran opposes nuclear weapons but will not abandon its nuclear program.
