Iranian referee lauds Azerbaijan's organisation of wrestling championship
Iranian referee Nima Sadeghi has praised the level of organisation of the Azerbaijan Wrestling Championship.
Sadeghi highlighted the high level of professionalism of the hosts and the significance of the tournament, Caliber.Az reports a local sports news outlet.
The I-S category referee thanked the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation for the invitation and the opportunity to work at the competition.
“Being here and officiating at the Azerbaijan Wrestling Championship is very exciting for me. The organisation of the tournament is at a very high level. Azerbaijan is a strong wrestling nation and is renowned worldwide. This country has produced many world and Olympic champions. This experience has been very valuable for me,” Sadeghi emphasised.
The championship featured intense competition in both Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestling, with top Azerbaijani athletes vying for national titles and spots on the national team. Azerbaijan has long been a powerhouse in the sport, boasting numerous Olympic and world medalists (including recent bronzes at the 2024 Paris Olympics) and consistently strong performances at continental and global levels.
