Israeli Forces target suspicious vessel off Gaza coast, neutralize threats
On March 3, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have confirmed that, they struck a suspicious motorized vessel off the northern coast of Khan Yunis, Gaza.
The vessel was reportedly violating security restrictions and posing a threat to Israeli forces, Caliber.Az reports per Israel Defense Forces.
Prior to the strike, IDF troops issued warning shots to deter any potential threat and distance suspects from the area.
In a separate incident, the IDF engaged two individuals in southern Gaza who were identified as posing an immediate threat to Israeli troops. The forces opened fire and reported hits, eliminating the threat.
The IDF stated that it remains committed to safeguarding the citizens of Israel and its troops, continuing operations to address any threats.
To recall, Israel has halted the entry of all humanitarian aid into Gaza to pressure Hamas into accepting new terms for extending a ceasefire agreement, which expired on March 1. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the proposed extension of the truce through Ramadan and Passover, aimed at securing further hostage releases.
However, Hamas rejected the terms, accusing Israel of undermining the ceasefire. Israel’s decision to suspend aid has been condemned by international organizations, with Egypt criticizing it as a form of "blackmail." The dispute has intensified following Hamas’ refusal to agree to the extension, and Israel has warned of further actions if the hostages are not released.
