Kazakhstan offers assistance to Russia over deadly terrorist attacks in Dagestan
President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has expressed condolences to Russian President Vladimir Putin in connection with the terrorist attacks in Dagestan.
He offered Moscow assistance in conducting operational and investigative activities by domestic law enforcement agencies.
"Kazakhstan strongly condemns this anti-human act and advocates the development of multilateral cooperation in the fight against terrorism under the auspices of the UN, the SCO and other authoritative international organisations," Tokayev said in a statement published by his press service on the Telegram channel, according to Caliber.Az.
On the evening of June 23, there was an attack on a synagogue and a church in Derbent, as well as on a church, a synagogue and a traffic police post in Makhachkala, and on a car in the centre of Sergokala village.
More than 15 police officers and several civilians were killed. Among those killed were Mavludin Khidirnabiyev, head of the Dagestan Ogni police department, and the priest of a church in Derbent. Six militants were eliminated. Three of them are the sons and nephew of the head of the Sergokala district of the republic. The official has been detained. A criminal case has been opened concerning a terrorist act (article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
