Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has expressed his country’s support for both the foreign and domestic policies of US President Donald Trump, ahead of the upcoming C5+1 summit in Washington.
Tokayev met with US Special Representative for South and Central Asia Sergio Gor and Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau to discuss prospects for expanding Kazakh-American strategic partnership, Caliber.Az reports, citing Kazakh media.
The discussions, according to a statement from the Kazakh presidential press service, focused on strengthening long-term cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, Tokayev conveyed his gratitude to President Trump for the invitation to the C5+1 summit. He expressed confidence that the high-level talks would be productive in identifying key priorities for economic and investment collaboration.
“Kazakhstan is keen to give a significant boost to trade, economic, and investment partnership with the United States,” Tokayev said, noting his support for Trump’s policies and praising the US leader’s contribution to global peace and international security.
The Kazakh president also highlighted Central Asia’s growing role on the global stage, pointing to the region’s “unprecedented unity” and commitment to neighbourly relations and shared progress.
Sergio Gor conveyed President Trump’s greetings to Tokayev, reaffirming the strategic importance of Central Asia in US foreign policy. He added that the upcoming Washington summit offered an opportunity to take bilateral cooperation to a new level.
The talks also explored areas of mutual interest, including energy, critical minerals, digitalisation, transport, and logistics, alongside discussions on regional and international issues.
