Kremlin spokesman: Russia never interfered in US elections
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Friday (July 17) rejected allegations that Russia interfered in US elections, saying previous investigations conducted by US authorities had found no evidence to support such claims.
Speaking at a briefing, Peskov was responding to questions after the United States included Russia among countries it says are seeking to influence US elections, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
He said multiple investigations conducted by US authorities had concluded that Russia had not interfered in American elections and questioned the basis for the latest allegations.
Peskov argued that the accusations were based on what he described as anonymous and unsubstantiated intelligence, rather than publicly available evidence.
He also stressed that the findings he referred to had been reached by American institutions, including congressional committees and the US Department of Justice, rather than by Russian authorities.
"We categorically reject all such allegations," Peskov said.
"Russia has never interfered in the internal affairs of other countries, and we expect that no one will seek to interfere in our internal affairs."
