Tokayev calls for AI cooperation, proposes Kazakhstan office
Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has proposed establishing a regional office of the World Artificial Intelligence Organisation in Kazakhstan and hosting the body's first meeting in Astana.
Speaking at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) in Shanghai, he endorsed the concept of "AI for Good, AI for All" and called for stronger international cooperation in the field, Caliber.Az reports, citing Kazakh media.
The Kazakh leader noted that the global artificial intelligence market could reach nearly $5 trillion by 2033, underscoring the need to develop common approaches to AI regulation.
Tokayev proposed holding the inaugural meeting of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organisation in Astana and locating its regional office for Central Asia in Kazakhstan.
The president also announced the opening in Almaty of the United Nations ESCAP Asia-Pacific Digital Solutions Centre for Sustainable Development and put forward an initiative to establish a Kazakhstan-China digital bridge aimed at accelerating the adoption of AI technologies in industry, energy, agriculture and other sectors of the economy.
