Fire erupts in industrial zone in Russia’s Bronnitsy, fuel spill reported VIDEO
A fire covering an area of 5,000 square meters broke out in an industrial zone in the town of Bronnitsy in Russia's Moscow region, damaging several vehicles, according to the Emergencies Ministry (EMERCOM).
Authorities said the preliminary estimates put the affected area at 5,000 square meters, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
Around 60 personnel and 20 pieces of equipment were deployed to combat the blaze.
The Moscow Regional Fire and Rescue Service noted that two fuel tankers and two GAZelle vans caught fire in the industrial zone, causing a fuel spill.
"The fire posed a threat to a nearby administrative building and a liquid storage tank," the service remarked.
EMERCOM later reported that firefighters had localised the blaze to an area of 3,100 square meters and succeeded in saving the nearby building from the flames.
The ministry subsequently announced that the open fire had been extinguished.
Firefighting operations, however, remain ongoing and are being complicated by heavy smoke.
