Georgia approves long-term gas supply agreement with Azerbaijan
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has signed a decree bringing into force a natural gas supply agreement with Azerbaijan concluded on May 18, 2026.
Under the decree, Georgia's Foreign Ministry is required to notify the Azerbaijani side of the completion of domestic procedures related to the agreement and inform the country's president and parliament accordingly, Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media.
The 20-year agreement was signed during Kobakhidze's visit to Baku.
In addition to gas supplies, the parties agreed to continue the transit of additional volumes of Azerbaijani gas to international markets, as well as the supply of electricity to Georgia and its transit to Türkiye through Georgian territory.
Azerbaijan remains Georgia's largest supplier of natural gas.
In 2025, Azerbaijani gas accounted for 72.1% of Georgia's total gas supply, or 2.28 billion cubic meters.
