22 April 2026 11:16
Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said his government does not seek confrontation with Hezbollah but will not allow intimidation as it engages in direct negotiations with Israel, according to Al Jazeera.
Speaking in Paris alongside French President Emmanuel Macron, Salam emphasised that while his administration is not pursuing conflict with Hezbollah, it remains firm in its position during the negotiations.
“We will not allow Hezbollah to intimidate us,” Salam said, underscoring his government’s stance.
He added that international backing would be essential for the success of ongoing peace efforts with Israel, highlighting the need for broader support to advance the negotiations.
