Lukashenko suggests Europe to soon need to pay Belarus for clean air
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has suggested that Europe will eventually have to pay Belarus for clean air, citing the country’s vast swamps and forests as the source of the oxygen that" flows into Europe."
Speaking during a visit to the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve, Lukashenko emphasised that "oxygen comes from swamps and forests, from trees," and claiming that Europe no longer has sufficient natural sources of clean air, Caliber.Az reports per Belarusian media.
According to Lukashenko, the wind carries fresh air from Belarus into Europe, and in his view, European nations will eventually need to compensate Belarus for this natural resource.
The Belarusian president also expressed frustration over the ongoing sanctions imposed on Belarus by the European Union, claiming that rather than being grateful for the "healing" benefits of Belarusian ecosystems, EU countries are "strangling" the country with sanctions.
“The time will come when this stinking Europe will pay us for preserving what God has given us,” Lukashenko added.
He further noted that the forests in Belarus, considered by him to be unparalleled in Europe, are unique, with only Russia having comparable natural landscapes, though "there are a lot of people" there.
