Trump rejects reports of military strikes in Venezuela
US President Donald Trump denied that he is considering military strikes against Venezuela, countering media reports suggesting that the United States might expand its counter-narcotics operations in the Caribbean.
The US has significantly bolstered its military presence in the region in recent months, deploying fighter jets, warships, and thousands of troops, Reuters reports.
This presence is expected to increase further in the coming weeks with the arrival of the Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier strike group.
In recent weeks, Trump had publicly indicated that his administration might conduct operations targeting drug-related activities inside Venezuela. However, when asked by reporters aboard Air Force One on October 31 whether the reports were accurate, Trump responded simply: “No.”
