Heavy floods in central Vietnam's historical cities killed 13 so far
Vietnam’s government has confirmed that the death toll from severe flooding in the country’s central region has risen to 13.
The floods were caused by record-breaking rainfall that submerged large parts of central Vietnam in recent days, Caliber.Az reported citing Reuters.
The UNESCO-listed former imperial capital Hue and the nearby 15th-century trading port city of Hoi An were among the hardest hit areas.
Vietnam frequently experiences deadly storms and floods that inflict widespread damage, particularly during the storm season from June to October. While flooding is not unusual, local residents told reporters that they had never seen water levels rise so high before.
By October 31, floodwaters had begun to partially recede, allowing residents to start cleaning up the affected areas.
