Massive Russian strike injures 12 in Kyiv, kills child in Zaporizhzhia
Russian forces carried out a large-scale combined drone and ballistic missile attack on Ukraine overnight on Friday, October 10, injuring at least 12 people in Kyiv, according to the head of the Kyiv City State Administration, Vitaliy Klitschko.
Klitschko said that eight of the injured have been hospitalised, while four others are receiving outpatient medical care. He added that doctors are providing all necessary assistance, and the condition of several hospitalised victims is assessed as moderate.
The mayor expressed gratitude to emergency responders and medical personnel for their prompt actions following the attack and urged residents of the capital not to ignore air raid alarms. Klitschko emphasised that municipal and emergency services continue to operate around the clock, working to repair damage and restore infrastructure following the overnight bombardment.
Ukraine’s Energy Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk said that Russian forces are deliberately targeting the country’s energy infrastructure. “As soon as the security situation permits, the energy sector will begin assessing the consequences of the attack and carry out restoration work,” she stated.
Russian strikes also hit the Zaporizhzhia region, where at least three explosions were reported in the city of Zaporizhzhia, according to Ivan Fedorov, head of the regional administration. He said that a 7-year-old child, who had been critically wounded, died in the hospital despite doctors’ efforts to save him. “Medics fought for the child’s life to the last, but the injuries were too severe,” Fedorov wrote.
