Mbappé becomes World Cup’s all-time leading scorer, surpassing Messi

France’s forward Kylian Mbappé became the all-time leading goalscorer in FIFA World Cup history after scoring twice in his side’s third-place match against England at the 2026 tournament.
The 27-year-old found the net in the 48th and 66th minutes, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Mbappé has now scored a total of 22 goals across World Cup tournaments, moving ahead of Argentina captain Lionel Messi, who has 21. The French star now sits alone at the top of the competition’s all-time scoring chart.
At the 2026 World Cup, Mbappé has scored 10 goals and provided four assists.
