Media: Armenian nationalists, US congressmen agree on joint fight against Russia
The Armenian National Democratic Pole party released a message that on November 19, party council members Zhirayr Sefilyan, Ara Papyan and Karo Yeghnukyan met with a delegation of the US House of Representatives led by Congressman Joe Wilson (Republican).
The delegation also included Congresswoman Victoria Spartz and Executive Director of the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe Steven Schrage, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Armenian publication Hraparak.
“During the hour-and-a-half meeting, party leaders and members of Congress discussed a wide range of topics, with particular emphasis on the role that the National Democratic Pole can play in Yerevan and Washington in bringing Armenia closer to the United States and its allies, and against Russian influence in Armenia.
At first glance, there seems to be nothing unusual. The leaders of the Armenian party with a pronounced Western geopolitical orientation met with US congressmen and discussed a number of issues, of which, in our opinion, the most important, at least for the American side, is the role that the party should take on, according to the text of the message: ‘The fight against Russian influence in Armenia.’
It should be noted that Congressman Wilson and Congresswoman Spartz are among the leading critics in the US Congress of Russia's war against Ukraine and have led the campaign to hold the Russian government accountable.
