Media: Pashinyan to subordinate Armenian silovikis to Western control
“It’s no secret that Nikol Pashinyan, from the onset of ascending to power, did everything to remove from the state system everyone with a positive attitude towards Armenian-Russian allied relations. After the 44-day war, Pashinyan’s fear of figures under Russian influence intensified, and he began to call them the fifth column.”
Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
“Pashinyan, without hesitation, declared generals of the army the fifth column. This rating concerned all those who passed the Higher Officer School of the Russian Federation. To weaken the NSS (the National Security Service), which has traditionally had close relations with its Russian counterpart, the Pashinyan government created the Foreign Intelligence Service, which it entrusted to an agent of Western influence.
“It seems that the final stage of severing ties with the Russian FSB has now arrived. A few weeks ago, the government adopted a legislative change according to which a senior officer rank is not required to become the head of the National Security Service. According to available information, Pashinyan is preparing to get rid of NSS head Armen Abazyan in the near future, and this law was adopted precisely for this purpose.
“Instead of Armen Abazyan, Armen Grigoryan, who does not have a military rank, will become the head of the NSS. Thus, Pashinyan will put the security forces of Armenia under the full control of the West,” the message reads.
