Media: Türkiye, Russia discuss extension of gas supply deals beyond 2026
Türkiye and Russia are in discussions over extending their natural gas supply agreements beyond 2026, as current contracts are due to expire at the end of December, according to Bloomberg.
Türkiye’s Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar said the talks are taking place between the state-owned energy company BOTAS and Russia’s Gazprom. He added that potential supply volumes and contract durations have yet to be finalised.
The negotiations come as Ankara seeks to secure long-term gas imports to support domestic demand and ensure supply stability. Russia remains one of Türkiye’s key gas suppliers through major pipeline routes, including TurkStream and Blue Stream.
Bloomberg reported that Türkiye has previously extended two separate agreements with Gazprom covering pipeline deliveries via these routes, underscoring the ongoing strategic energy ties between the two countries.
