Metsamor NPP poses a threat to the region, Brenda Shaffer, a professor at Naval postgraduate school (USA) and a member of the American Political Science Association, wrote on social network X, commenting on the decision of Russia and Armenia to expand the Metsamor NPP.

"Russia and Armenia decided to extend the operations of Armenia's nuclear power plant at Metsamor. Reminder that this nuclear power plant has no secondary containment vessel and poses a danger to the people of Armenia, Georgia, Türkiye, Iran and Azerbaijan," she wrote, Caliber.Az reports.
