Azerbaijani officials reaffirm support for Turkish Cypriots during TRNC visit
On January 30, the Chairman of the Parliament of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Ziya Öztürkler, met with a delegation of Azerbaijani MPs, NGO representatives, and journalists in Lefkosha.
The Azerbaijani delegation arrived in the TRNC to participate in the II International Symposium of Cyprus Studies, dedicated to Rauf Denktaş and Fazıl Kuçük, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The symposium, scheduled to begin on January 31, will bring together 52 invited guests from 12 different countries, including Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.
During the meeting, Professor Güven Arıklı, Chairman of the Turkic Unity Solidarity Association (Türk-Bir), highlighted the symposium’s objective — to raise international awareness about the realities of the TRNC.
Chairman Öztürkler expressed his full support for such meaningful initiatives and reaffirmed the importance of continued engagement on this issue.
Azerbaijani MP Anar Isgandarov reiterated that Azerbaijan stands in support of Turkish Cypriots, while MP Zhalya Aliyeva emphasized that the freedom, independence, and peaceful development of Northern Cyprus hold significance for the entire Turkic world.
