Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov on January 29 in Ankara as part of the 2nd trilateral meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Economy/Trade, and Transport of Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan.
The discussions focused on strengthening the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan alliance, expanding bilateral and multilateral cooperation, and addressing the current regional situation in the post-conflict period, Caliber.Az reports referring to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
Both sides expressed confidence that 2025, marking the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, would witness further deepening of cooperation across various sectors, including politics, trade, economy, energy, transport, culture, and humanitarian initiatives. Bayramov and Saidov also discussed prospects for collaboration within regional and international platforms. In this context, they highlighted the strategic partnership agreement on the development and transmission of green energy signed between Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan within the framework of COP29, emphasizing its significance for advancing regional energy, transport, and communications projects.
Bayramov provided Saidov with detailed insights into Azerbaijan’s ongoing reconstruction and demining efforts in the liberated territories, as well as its broader initiatives to establish lasting peace in the region. He underscored that Armenia’s territorial claims against Azerbaijan, coupled with its rapid militarization as outlined in the Armenian Constitution, were major obstacles to the normalization process.
Concluding their discussions, the two Foreign Ministers signed a comprehensive program of events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, further solidifying their commitment to enhanced cooperation.
