Azerbaijani, Bahraini defence leaders set sights on expanding bilateral relations
Azerbaijani Defence Minister, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, hosted the Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Forces, Field Marshal Sheikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, who is currently on a working visit to Azerbaijan.
The meeting took place on January 30, 2025, with both leaders engaging in detailed discussions about military cooperation and regional security, the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry told Caliber.Az.
Minister Hasanov warmly welcomed Field Marshal Al Khalifa, expressing his satisfaction at the visit and his appreciation for Bahrain's humanitarian assistance during the 44-day Patriotic War, which saw Azerbaijan’s army triumph. He also thanked Bahrain for its ongoing support in international organizations during the conflict.
Field Marshal Al Khalifa expressed his gratitude for the Azerbaijani hospitality, highlighting the significance of mutual visits in enhancing bilateral relations. He stressed that such exchanges are vital for deepening cooperation in the defence and military sectors.
The two leaders discussed the current state of relations and explored new opportunities for enhancing military and military-educational cooperation between their countries.
They also addressed broader regional security issues.
