A colourful Gran Desfile Mundialista parade took place in Mexico City on June 13, blending football themes with elements of Mexico’s traditional Day of the Dead celebrations.
Although the holiday is usually observed in November, organisers created a special procession dedicated to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, merging football imagery with national cultural traditions, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
Giant balloons featuring mascots from Mexico’s previous World Cups in 1970 and 1986 were displayed across the city streets.
A central highlight was a Day of the Dead–themed float dedicated to the memory of football legends, including Soviet goalkeeper Lev Yashin, whose name remains etched in the sport’s history.
