Mexico fans stage late-night demonstration outside England team hotel
Supporters of the Mexico national football team gathered outside the hotel hosting the England national football team in Mexico City, staging a noisy late-night demonstration ahead of their World Cup clash, the Daily Mail reports.
Around 200 fans assembled near the hotel at midnight, chanting, singing and revving engines behind a police cordon. Security personnel eventually intervened and moved the crowd farther away from the building.
England’s camp said the incident had no impact on the players. The squad reportedly found the spectacle more amusing than intimidating, having become accustomed to similar situations while playing for their club teams.
England and Mexico are scheduled to meet in the Round of 16 of the World Cup on July 6, with kickoff set for 4:00 a.m. Baku time. Media reports have suggested the match could be postponed due to weather conditions, but the scheduled start time remains unchanged for now.
