Military expert: Armenian authorities soon to start discussing withdrawal from CSTO
Military expert David Jamalyan has said that the Armenian authorities will soon start discussing withdrawal from the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
“We have no alternative to the CSTO. For us, the CSTO is nothing more than a channel for receiving Russian assistance. The main goal of this government is to remove Armenia from Russia’s influence by any available means, even if there are territorial and human losses,” Jamalyan stated during an interview with the Armenian media, Caliber.Az reports.
“This group has a distorted view of sovereignty. By ‘sovereignty’ they mean the cessation of ties with Russia. Thus, opposition to the CSTO looks quite logical, and, it seems to me, the Armenian authorities will soon begin discussing withdrawal from the CSTO.
It is also worth noting that the presence of anti-Russian sentiments and discontent in certain public circles with the Russian Federation were formed under the influence of media manipulation.
Regarding military-technical assistance from France, it is important to understand that creating the illusion that France will provide us with the kind of assistance that will allow us to resist Azerbaijani attacks is a dangerous reality. Such manipulations with public opinion, which is in confusion, lead to a further weakening of protective immunity,” the expert said.
