Military Sports Council commends Azerbaijan's preparation for World Military Wrestling Championship
Sports Director of the International Military Sports Council (CISM) Jan van den Dool has said that the preparation for the World Championship among military personnel is at a high level in Azerbaijan.
Jan van den Dool made these remarks at a press conference dedicated to the 36th World Military Wrestling Championships in Baku, Report informs.
“Azerbaijan takes sporting events seriously. The care for sports and athletes in Azerbaijan is at a high level,” he said.
The 36th World Championship among military personnel organised by the State Border Service and the Ministry of Youth and Sports will be held at the Serhedci Sports Centre from November 27 to December 3.
Meanwhile, the head of the Serhedci Sports Centre of the State Border Service Elshan Mirzoyev has said that 19 countries have confirmed their participation in the 36th World Military Championships in Baku.
He said that 259 athletes, including 103 freestyle wrestling athletes and 156 Greco-Roman wrestling athletes, have confirmed their participation in the championship.
“We are still getting applications for participation. About 400 people are expected to take part,” the head of the sports centre said.
Mirzoyev said that the exact composition of the Azerbaijani team will be determined before the competition.
