Ukrainian businessman claims he’s been made “scapegoat” in major corruption case
Ukrainian-Israeli entrepreneur Timur Mindich has claimed that he has been made the “scapegoat” in a high-profile corruption case, according to Politika Strany.
Ukrainska Pravda has published the full interview between the journalist and Mindich in Israel.
Mindich said that his case is “90% media-driven,” that he is “accused of everything,” but he denies the allegations and insists he has been made the “scapegoat,” adding that he could be accused even of the war in Israel.
He refused to comment on the investigation.
He confirmed that he is acquainted with Rustem Umerov and Herman Halushchenko but insists that he gave them no instructions.
At the same time, he confirmed the authenticity of a conversation with Umerov regarding the purchase of bulletproof vests, but said it was only a fragment taken out of context.
Mindich stated that he communicated with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy “a long time ago,” that such interactions during the presidency were “very rare,” and now “do not occur at all.”
It is worth noting that Mindich is referred to as one of the president’s closest friends and his “wallet,” allegedly overseeing corruption schemes in the energy and defence sectors.
