Minister: Georgia to resume EU relations on key issues in case of bold step
Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili has said that Georgia may resume its important relations with the EU on issues vital to its shared European future, should the EU make a favorable decision.
Botchorishvili highlighted the crucial role the EU plays in Georgia’s path toward closer integration with Europe, Caliber.Az reports via Georgian media.
She also addressed the need for the EU to show courage in addressing what she described as the ongoing injustice faced by Georgia.
"To make this step and put an end to the unjust treatment of Georgia, it requires real courage," Botchorishvili stated. "It is now clearly visible, and we see it."
In recent months the EU-Georgia relations have experienced tumultuous periods after the European Parliament rejected the results of Georgia’s election, which saw the Georgian Dream party dominate. The party is more vocal about their concerns regarding the country's ties to the EU, which has caused a rift. On November 28, 2024 the ruling Georgian Dream party suspended EU accession talks.
