More bodies recovered after Russian strike on Kyiv, death toll rises to 21 PHOTO
Rescue teams in Kyiv have pulled five more bodies from the debris of a partially collapsed apartment building following a Russian missile strike on June 17, bringing the total number of victims recovered at the site to 16.
According to RBC-Ukraine, citing an official update from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES), the search-and-rescue operation in the Solomianskyi district continued throughout the night without interruption.
"As of 07:00, the bodies of five additional victims have been extracted from the ruins of the nine-story residential building that was partially destroyed," the SES said in a statement. "In total, 16 bodies have now been recovered at this address."
Efforts to locate further victims are still underway.
The strike on Kyiv has resulted in a total of 21 confirmed fatalities citywide, and at least 134 others were wounded, according to the most recent figures.
