Moscow court fines Telegram for non-compliance with content regulations
Moscow court has fined Telegram for failing to remove prohibited content from its platform.
As a result of the ruling, the company has been ordered to pay a fine of 4 million roubles ($ 41,000), Caliber.Az reports citing Russian media.
According to reports Telegram Messenger was found guilty under part 2 of Article 13.41 of the Code of Administrative Offences, which addresses the failure of website owners to delete information when required to do so by Russian law.
As a result of the ruling, the company has been ordered to pay a fine of four million roubles.
Notably, on August 13, the Moscow court fined Telegram 4 million rubles ($ 41,000) for failing to block access to unspecified banned content.
The ruling was made by the Taganka district court, though the specific content in question was not disclosed.
The case was brought against Telegram after authorities found the platform did not comply with Russian laws requiring the restriction of access to certain prohibited materials.
