Moscow: More work needed for lasting peace between Azerbaijan, Armenia
On November 7, Russia said that Azerbaijan and Armenia still have significant work ahead to make the process of normalising relations irreversible, reaffirming its readiness to assist both sides.
According to a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry, Baku and Yerevan “still have much to do to make the normalisation of bilateral relations irreversible, including signing a peace treaty, restoring transport and economic links in the interests of all South Caucasus countries and their neighbours, ensuring fair border delimitation and demarcation, and fostering effective civil society contacts.”
Moscow stressed that it remains ready to “provide comprehensive assistance” to both countries in all these areas, including through the regional cooperation platform known as “3+3”, which brings together Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia with Russia, Iran and Türkiye.
The ministry added that the agreements reached by the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan “remain in force and relevant,” describing them as a “roadmap” for the peace process.
“These understandings continue to be used actively by both sides, including in their direct dialogue,” the statement said.
Moscow also welcomed the initialling of a draft peace and interstate relations agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia by the foreign ministers of both countries in Washington on August 8, 2025, calling it a positive step towards a final settlement.
