Moscow offers air defence systems to Southeast Asian nations
Russia has signalled its readiness to expand military-technical cooperation with Southeast Asian countries, including through the potential supply of air defence systems, according to a statement by Rosoboronexport reported by TASS.
The state arms exporter said Russia’s defence industry can offer a broad range of air defence solutions, spanning from man-portable air defence systems (MANPADS) to advanced long-range platforms. According to the company, several of these systems have demonstrated high effectiveness in combat conditions.
Rosoboronexport подчеркнул that it is open to cooperation with countries in Southeast Asia on the delivery of such systems, indicating a willingness to deepen defence ties across the region.
As part of these efforts, Russia is showcasing its capabilities at the DSA 2026 defence exhibition in Kuala Lumpur, one of the largest military industry events in the Asia-Pacific. Among the systems on display is a model of the Pantsir-S1M anti-aircraft missile and gun system, developed by the High-Precision Systems holding, which is part of the Rostec state corporation.
According to the manufacturer, the Pantsir-S1M is designed to operate as part of an integrated air defence network and is capable of employing multiple types of missiles, including those intended to counter unmanned aerial vehicles. The system can engage both aerial and ground targets and is characterised by high mobility, including the ability to fire while in motion.
The DSA 2026 exhibition is taking place from April 20 to April 23 and serves as a key platform for defence cooperation and arms showcasing in the Asia-Pacific region.
