MP: Security interests bring together Azerbaijan,Georgia
MP Soltan Mammadov has said that Azerbaijan and Georgia are also brought together by security interests.
"Relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia are based on mutual trust. The two countries are united not only by historical and geopolitical factors, but also by strategic interests," APA reports citing Mammadov, a member of the working group on Azerbaijani-Georgiaan inter-parliamentary relations.
He noted that the new realities that have developed in the region today and the complex processes taking place in the world have created new conditions that bring the two countries closer.
The MP stressed that Azerbaijani-Georgian relations have a serious impact on ensuring regional security.
"After the Second Karabakh War, there are more favourable conditions in the South Caucasus to ensure peace and stability. The interests of Azerbaijan and Georgia in the field of security also coincide. Both countries have constantly supported each other on international platforms and have taken the same position on the issue of territorial integrity. Georgia has expressed support for Azerbaijan's initiative to create a format of cooperation in the South Caucasus. That is, Azerbaijan and Georgia are brought together not only by economic interests, historical and political factors, but also by security interests," he said.
