Natavan monument threatened with demolition French city's anti-Azerbaijani move
The policy of France against Azerbaijan, which has recently been stepped up, has now reached the field of culture and the arts.
Report informs citing the French newspaper Le Messager that the mayor's office of the French city of Evian-les-Bains, which signed a cooperation charter with the Azerbaijani city of Ismayilli in 2015, recently took a decision hostile to Azerbaijani culture to remove all inscriptions mentioning "Azerbaijan Park" in the city.
It should be noted that the "Azerbaijan Park" was opened in 2017 as part of the aforementioned charter of cooperation.
According to the newspaper, on December 18, opposition representatives demanded that the city council officially remove all inscriptions mentioning the park in the city.
According to Mayor Josiane Lei, all inscriptions mentioning the "Azerbaijan Park" have already been removed.
According to the newspaper's report, the French city's recent decision is due to France's "love" for Armenia. Meanwhile, it seems that the enemies of Azerbaijani culture have now turned their attention to the monument of the famous Azerbaijani poet Khurshidbanu Natavan, which was also installed in 2017 under the same cooperation charter.
This move by the French city hall demonstrates the policy of cultural chauvinism, xenophobia, prejudice and intolerance towards other cultures that has recently prevailed in France.
