North Korean leader congratulates women’s football champions

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has met with players of the women’s football club Naegohyang and congratulated the athletes, after which a football match was held.

In May, Naegohyang won the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Women’s Champions League for the first time in the club’s history, defeating Japan’s Tokyo Verdy Beleza 1–0 in the final, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Korean media.

Earlier in the tournament, the North Korean side faced South Korea’s Suwon in the semi-finals.

It marked the first visit by a North Korean sports team to the South in eight years.
