Number of Ukrainians supporting accession to EU, NATO unveiled Record poll results throughout history
A record rise in Ukrainians' Euro-Atlantic sentiment, the highest in the country's history, has been one of the direct consequences of the Russian invasion.
Some 87 per cent support Ukraine's accession to the European Union, and 86 per cent - to NATO in February 2023, RBC-Ukraine reports citing the poll results of the "Rating" sociological group.
The sociologists said that Ukrainians see victory not only in the liberation of territories and the destruction of the enemy on the battlefield. The country will receive real security guarantees after real Euro-Atlantic integration.
The history of support for joining NATO is interesting in the dynamics of the war. So, after a record increase in the indicator in early March (up to 76 per cent), there is a fall in late March (up to 68 per cent), which was associated with delays in the supply of weapons, while the majority (89 per cent) of respondents thought that Ukraine mainly needed airspace closure as part of international assistance.
Ukrainians have been demonstrating record levels of support for Ukraine's accession to NATO since summer amid active international military support.
“Today NATO for Ukrainians is a guarantee of military security. The European Union means values and economic security,” the poll authors said.
The poll was conducted on February 6-7, 2023 among 1,000 respondents in all districts, except for temporarily occupied Crimea and Donbas and territories where there is no Ukrainian mobile communication during the poll.
