Nurmagomedov completely retires from MMA sport PHOTO
Sporting legend Khabib Nurmagomedov is stepping away from the sport of mixed martial arts entirely.
As TASS reported, Nurmagomedov is retiring from coaching after having led fighters Islam Makhachev and Usman Nurmagomedov to UFC and Bellator lightweight championships.
Dagestani sportsmen teased his departure from MMA in an Instagram post published on January 5, in which he thanked his team for their support and stated, that, "I hope my decision will only add to the positive", not specifying which decision he is referring to.
He has been the longest-reigning UFC Lightweight Champion ever, having held the title from April 2018 to March 2021. Nurmagomedov announced his retirement as an MMA fighter in October 2020 despite pressure from UFC president Dana White to continue fighting, out of respect for the passing of his father and coach, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov earlier that year from COVID-19.
