OIC Secretary General raps Sweden, Denmark for failure to prevent Quran desecration UPDATED
Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha expressed disappointment that the governments of Sweden and Denmark have not yet taken measures to prevent the burning of the Quran.
"OIC Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha once again called on the Swedish and Danish governments at the official level to take measures to prevent the re-desecration and burnings of copies of the Holy Quran and expressed his disappointment that no action has been taken so far," TASS reports, citing a statement posted on organization’s website.
At the opening of the online extraordinary session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the member countries of the organization, Taha said that he had informed the governments of Sweden and Denmark, as well as UN Secretary General António Guterres, that "the nature of these provocations has reached an alarming level". He also expressed disappointment that the governments of these countries continue to issue permission for such actions.
