Paralympic committee successfully repels Armenian attempt of expelling Azerbaijani team
Armenia made an unsuccessful attempt at excluding Azerbaijan from the paralympic movement by voicing a provocative statement during an assembly of the International Committee.
According to Report, the President of Azerbaijan's Paralympic Committee, Ilgar Rahimov, shared details of this incident which occurred in Berlin.
He noted that during the discussion at the general assembly regarding the exclusion of the Paralympic Committees of Russia and Belarus from the International Committee, the Armenian representative took the floor and accused Azerbaijan of occupying Armenian lands, with the support of Türkiye. He went on by proposing the expulsion of the Azerbaijani National Paralympic Committee from the international organization.
Rahimov responded to this ludicrous provocation, by recalling, that "during the 44-day Patriotic War in 2020, Azerbaijan liberated its lands from 30 years of Armenian occupation. Today, as Azerbaijan works to restore peace in the region, it is unacceptable for the Armenian delegation to continue its dirty policy at the General Assembly and to make unfounded claims against us. Azerbaijan has liberated its lands and we do not need any foreign territories".
According to him, Andrew Parsons, the President of the International Paralympic Committee halted the discussion, stating that the issue of terminating the Azerbaijani POC membership is not being discussed.
