Paris 2024: Azerbaijani taekwondo athlete advances to final
Azerbaijani taekwondo athlete Hashim Magomedov has reached the final at the Summer Olympic Games in Paris, France. Competing in the 58 kg weight category, Magomedov started by defeating Ireland's Jack Woolley in the round of 16.
Following this, he won against Adrián Vicente Yunta of Spain in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, Magomedov overcame Olympic champion Vito Dell'Aquila of Italy to secure his place in the final, Caliber.Az reports.
In the final, Magomedov will compete against Tae-Joon Park of Korea. Hashim Magomedov is the sole taekwondo athlete representing Azerbaijan at the Paris Olympics. The Summer Olympic Games in Paris will conclude on August 11.
The 24-year-old athlete expressed his aspirations: "I still can't believe that I made it to the final. A challenging match awaits me. I hope to emerge victorious. I want to return to Baku as an Olympic champion."
It should be noted that Magomedov's opponent in the final will be South Korean Park Tae-Joon. The match is scheduled to start at 23:37 Baku time.
