Pashinyan says Armenia to not engage in anti-Russian actions
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said Armenia would never take part in actions directed against Russia and dismissed suggestions of a crisis in relations between Yerevan and Moscow.
Speaking to reporters, Pashinyan said Armenia would not “argue or quarrel” with Russia, describing the two countries as being on “incomparable scales,” Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
“I have said this before and will repeat it now: Armenia has never been and will never be involved in anti-Russian actions,” Pashinyan said.
He added that Russia, as a major power, and its interests should be treated with respect.
The Armenian leader made the remarks in response to a question about whether tensions had emerged between the two countries amid recent restrictions affecting exports of Armenian goods to Russia.
Pashinyan compared the situation to Armenia’s relations with the European Union, noting that Armenian airlines remain on the EU’s aviation blacklist. However, he said such issues do not indicate a broader political crisis.
“But this does not mean that there is a crisis in relations with the European Union,” he said.
