Peskov: US approved Ukraine strikes on Russian territory long ago

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on September 12 that the US has long since decided to allow Ukraine to strike Russian territory with Western-supplied weapons.

Speaking to a Russian newspaper, Peskov emphasized that the ongoing discussions are merely for show, per Caliber.Az.

"The process is already underway, and it’s evident that Ukraine will continue these terrorist attacks," he said. Peskov suggested that Ukraine could target social facilities, further escalating the conflict. He added that the West's actions are aimed at prolonging the war "to the last Ukrainian," warning that permitting Kyiv to use foreign weapons on Russian soil only deepens Western involvement in the conflict.

This comes after US President Joe Biden hinted that his administration is considering lifting the ban on long-range weapons for Ukrainian strikes on Russian targets. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken indicated the issue will be discussed during Biden’s meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on September 13.
