Police car hits journalist during revanchist rally in Yerevan
Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media that a journalist from Mediaub.am, Nare Gevorgyan, was struck by a police car while covering the action of revanchists near Republic Square in Yerevan.
Gevorgyan has been taken to a medical centre where she is currently receiving treatment for a leg injury. Editor-in-Chief of Mediaհub.am Leah Khojoyan has made a statement condemning the incident.
She noted that the police car had deliberately run over the journalist while she was fulfilling her professional duties.
Khojoyan emphasized that the incident took place at a pedestrian crossing and the street was clearly visible at that moment.
Khojoyan has called on the Interior Ministry to control its officers and punish those responsible for this act of violence.
She has reiterated her condemnation of the use of brute force against peaceful protesters and journalists.
The incident follows a similar one that occurred on May 13, where 24news.am journalist Mary Manoukian was injured during a scuffle between police and revanchists in Yerevan. The journalist lost consciousness and was hospitalized. ABC News cameraman Mher Davtyan was also injured during the incident.
