Polish president to meet Zelenskyy in coming days
Polish President Karol Nawrocki has announced that he will soon meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, with the encounter expected to take place this coming weekend.
Speaking to journalists at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Nawrocki said the meeting would be held on the sidelines of another international format, Caliber.Az reports via Polish media.
“I will meet President Zelenskyy in the context of another event. I think it will happen this coming weekend,” he said.
When asked whether he would travel to Kyiv to mark the fourth anniversary of the outbreak of war in Ukraine, Nawrocki said he had no such plans.
The Polish president also discussed the ongoing conflict with Russia and its implications for Poland’s security. He confirmed that these issues had been part of his talks with US President Donald Trump during their meeting in Davos.
“I told him very openly what decisions would be best for Poland. Of course, stopping the deaths of soldiers and civilians in Ukraine is essential. I believe this is a necessity for the whole world,” Nawrocki said.
He added that achieving a lasting peace between Ukraine and Russia is crucial for Poland. “A peace that only provides an opportunity for the Russian Federation to mobilise forces and attack again in 5, 10, 15, or 20 years is not a good solution,” he stressed, noting his complete lack of trust in Vladimir Putin.
