Poll: Hungarian voters fear Russian meddling in parliamentary election
As Hungary prepares for parliamentary elections on April 12, a significant portion of voters express concern over potential vote-rigging and foreign interference, according to a survey by Medián.
Nearly half of respondents believe it is likely that Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s party could manipulate the election results, while only about one-fifth expect similar behaviour from the opposition party, Tisza, Caliber.Az reports, citing Hungarian media.
Regarding foreign influence, 48% of participants see Russia as the most likely actor to interfere.
Far fewer respondents anticipate attempts from Ukraine, the United States, or EU institutions—around one-quarter of those surveyed.
The poll was conducted via telephone interviews between March 23 and 26, 2026, with a sample of 1,000 adult residents of Hungary.
