Azerbaijani president pays tribute on Remembrance Day with visit to Victory Park PHOTO
On September 27, Remembrance Day, President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan visited Victory Park in Baku, where construction is ongoing.
During his visit, the President laid flowers to honour Azerbaijani servicemen who fell during the 44-day Patriotic War, which ended Armenia's occupation of Azerbaijani lands, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The establishment of the Patriotic War Memorial Complex and the Victory Museum in Baku was mandated by a decree signed by President Aliyev on December 3, 2020.
Victory Park, located on 8 November Avenue, spans over nine hectares. The entrance features 44 arch elements, symbolizing the journey to victory, with the main arch under construction reaching 44 meters in height and 22 meters in width.
A memorial monument commemorating November 8 — Victory Day — will be erected at the park's entrance, symbolizing both the day of victory and the unshakable unity of the nation.
The Victory Museum, which will have two entry points within the park, will cover 9,200 square meters and display the names of soldiers and officers who sacrificed their lives for Azerbaijan's territorial integrity on one of its side walls.
Visitors will gain access to the park after touring the museum. The park will also include a thematic garden, a cascading waterfall, the Karabakh Memory Garden, and a general viewpoint overlooking the area. Additionally, plans are in place for the construction of Freedom Flag Square at the park's end.
