11 February 2023 17:28

The Progress MS-20 space freighter, which was launched from Baikonur Cosmodrome on Thursday, docked to the Zvezda service module of the International Space Station on February 11.

The resupply ship automatically docked to the ISS, according to a Roscosmos live stream. The process was monitored from the ground by the Mission Control Center, while Russian cosmonauts Sergey Prokopyev, Dmitry Petelin, who is also a TASS special reporter in space, and Anna Kikina partnered together for the same task on board the ISS.

Progress MS-22 brought more than 2,500 kg of cargo to the ISS, including 720 kg of fuel, 420 kg of potable water, 40 kg of nitrogen, and about 1,354 kg of dry cargo: various equipment and materials, including those for experiments.

The space freighter also delivered food rations for the Russian cosmonauts, the Institute of Biomedical Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences told TASS earlier.

Petelin has reported that the Russian crew was hoping to find surprise items and gifts from their families among the newly-received supplies.

The Soyuz-2.1a carrier rocket with the Progress MS-22 resupply ship blasted off from site No. 31 (Vostok) at the Baikonur spaceport in Kazakhstan at 9:15 a.m. Moscow time on February 9.
